Black, Black Tuxedo & Progressive Pied Quail Hatching Eggs

Striking Dark & Pied Coturnix Quail

Fertile Coturnix Quail Hatching Eggs – Black, Black Tuxedo & Progressive Pied

Freshly collected Coturnix quail hatching eggs from a carefully selected breeding group focused on black, black tuxedo and progressive pied birds.

This is a particularly striking group, producing beautifully dark birds alongside tuxedo and progressively pied offspring. As with all mixed-colour breeding groups, exact markings cannot be guaranteed, but the aim of this pen is to produce an interesting selection of predominantly black-based and pied quail.

All breeding birds are housed on deep shavings rather than wire, supporting better welfare, natural behaviour, foot health and the overall condition of the breeding stock.

Offspring may include:

  • Black

  • Black Tuxedo

  • Progressive Pied

  • Heavily pied and unusually marked birds

  • Variations and combinations of the above

An occasional blue egg...

An interesting feature of this breeding group is that some of the hens lay blue eggs, while others lay the more usual speckled Coturnix eggs.

However, this is not a true Celadon breeding group and these eggs should not be purchased with the expectation of producing blue-egg-laying offspring.

The Celadon blue-egg trait is recessive and not all of the birds in this group carry the blue egg gene. Therefore, although blue eggs themselves may be included in your order, the likelihood of producing offspring which go on to lay blue eggs is negligible.

If your main aim is to hatch quail that will reliably produce blue eggs, please choose our dedicated Celadon Quail Hatching Eggs instead.

Key information:

  • Fertile Coturnix quail hatching eggs

  • Black, Black Tuxedo & Progressive Pied breeding group

  • Sold in sixes

  • A particularly attractive mix of dark and pied genetics

  • Eggs may be blue or traditionally speckled

  • Blue eggs in the box do not mean blue-egg-laying offspring

  • Not all breeding birds carry the Celadon gene

  • Birds kept on deep shavings for welfare and comfort

  • Strong fertility when correctly incubated

Please note:

Eggs are collected fresh and carefully packed before dispatch. As with all hatching eggs, hatch rates depend on incubation conditions, handling during transit and environmental factors.

Colour and markings cannot be guaranteed from individual eggs. Progressive pied in particular can produce plenty of variation, which is part of the appeal of hatching from this group.

Availability:

Limited batches are available depending on lay. Eggs are collected regularly throughout the day and orders are dispatched promptly to ensure they are as fresh as possible.

A lovely choice for anyone wanting to hatch something a little different, with dramatic black, tuxedo and progressive pied colouring and plenty of variation between individual birds.
